Nick named “The Freight Train”, and for good reason. Benson was a load to bring down. The Golden Eagles didn’t look to pass very much, but that was because they usually didn’t need to. But, when they did, looking over the middle to Benson proved to be a great plan. He exploded in week two, catching a pair of touchdown passes in the fourth quarter against Lynden, helping Ferndale come back to win the game. He also caught a season-high six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown in Ferndale’s playoff win against Bethel. He was also named All-Conference 1st Team at tight end.
